75 years in business, 1000 years of craftsmen's commitment
One of the North-East’s largest architectural metalworkers, Beal Architectural is celebrating its 75th anniversary and is showing no sign of slowing down - nor are its 55 employees.
Not only is the company commemorating this milestone, but the craftsmen themselves are celebrating 1000 accumulative years of service.
The Birtley-based metalwork specialist has continued to evolve since its birth in 1933 when it was known as R. Beal & Co, a blacksmiths and welders. Priding itself on craftsmanship and reliability, the company has built a strong reputation both regionally and nationally by ensuring clients receive the highest levels of quality and service.
Doug Dobbing (77), Chairman, joined the company shortly after his 14th birthday in 1945, making him the longest serving employee with 63 years service. Doug’s father managed the company on behalf of the Beal family before purchasing the business in the 1950’s. Doug’s two sons, Stuart (53) and Chris (50), have successfully ran the company for the past 20 years, with the support of a strong team whose continuous service ranges from 1 to 45 years.
Gordon Williams (61), the second longest serving employee has 45 years service. Gordon, a senior site supervisor and fabricator/welder, has stayed with the company so long because of the friendly family environment and new challenges that have occurred as the company has developed over the years.
