The rich history of an architectural metalwork provider

Originally established as R. Beal & Co. in 1933 as a blacksmiths and welders, our grandfather managed the company on behalf of the Beal family for many years before his family purchased the business in the 1950’s. The company has remained in Dobbing family hands since and has developed into one of the country’s leading Architectural Metalworkers. Not only are we commemorating our 75 year milestone as a business, but our craftsmen are celebrating over 1000 accumulative years of service – an achievement which we are all proud of.

The decision to move from our historic base in Sunderland to Oak House in Birtley, County Durham, during the summer of 1996 was not taken lightly - however we had clearly outgrown our Sheepfolds Road site in Sunderland and needed to relocate in order to expand our business capacity and capability. Over the years we have been referred to as ‘Beals’, ‘R. Beal’, ‘Beal Engineering’ to name but a few but ‘Beal Architectural’ as we are known today best reflects our current and future profile as we continue to provide architectural metalwork and secondary steelwork principally for the building and construction industry.
